Water Treatment Plant Begins Operation in Kharkiv
On March 28, a new water treatment plant began operating on the grounds of a regional children’s hospital in Kharkiv. Funding was provided by strategic American and Canadian partners – Renew Democracy Initiative, Canada-Ukraine Foundation, and Ukrainian Canadian Congress – enabling the facility to secure a reliable, independent water supply.
“The installation of this plant fully meets the need for safe drinking water. We thank our international partners – Renew Democracy Initiative, Canada-Ukraine Foundation, and the charitable foundation Rebuild Our Ukraine – for their consistent support of residents in the Kharkiv region,” said Oleh Syniehubov, head of the regional administration.
A delegation from the Renew Democracy Initiative, led by Executive Director Uriel Epshtein, arrived in Kharkiv for an official visit. The handover ceremony was attended by Deputy Head of the regional administration Olena Lohvinova and Oleg Klenin, director of Rebuild Our Ukraine.
Previously, the Renew Democracy Initiative funded a similar installation for the Kharkiv Regional Clinical Hospital, where the system has been operating efficiently over the past two years.
In two weeks, the total number of facilities in Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region will reach three, as a new plant comes online at a medical facility in Lozova. The plant will provide patients, visitors, and local residents with high-quality drinking water for the next 15 years.
